Thank God, I'm Unemployed
DATE: 12/17/2008 17:03:31 / MOOD: Encouraging
As, I head into my third month without a job, and no prospects until after the first of the year, I keep repeating Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
I must remember that if I am truly putting my trust in the Lord, then I am on his time schedule, not mine. While I am still obligated to do my part in seeking employment, I trust in the Lord to give me the right job, at the right time. How much faith would be required, if I knew the time and the means by which God will answer my prayer? Faith and trust by their very definition means that I may, at times, not know God plans for my life, until He chooses to reveal those plans. This is not a "convenient" time to be unemployed, and I, like all of you, have a mortgage or rent, utility bills, car payments and other expenses. But then I ask myself if it was for God to send down His Son, to live on earth as a man, (and a poor man at that)? Was it for Jesus to shed His blood on the cross so that we could have eternal life? I praise God for His perfect timing and thank Him for all my blessings.I Praise God for being unemployed at this moment in time. Being unemployed at Christmas time has put my focus back on the truth of this season. At the perfect time, our perfect God sent His only Son to be the perfect sacrifice for an imperfect world.
