ENOUGH OIL
10/29/2008 00:33:04 / Prayerful
The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good. PROVERBS 15:3
But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person--such a man is an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them EPHESIANS 5:3-7
At that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and punish those who are complacent, who are like wine left on its dregs, who think, `The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.' ZEPHANIAH 1:12Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. PSALMS 139:23-24
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth." JOHN 4:23
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. MATTHEW 5:6
"Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on the name of the LORD and serve him shoulder to shoulder. From beyond the rivers of Cush my worshipers, my scattered people, will bring me offerings. On that day you will not be put to shame for all the wrongs you have done to me, because I will remove from this city those who rejoice in their pride. Never again will you be haughty on my holy hill. But I will leave within you the meek and humble, who trust in the name of the LORD The remnant of Israel will do no wrong; they will speak no lies, nor will deceit be found in their mouths. They will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid." ZEPHANIAH 3:9-12 < B>
"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 3 The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. 4 The wise, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. 5 The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep."At midnight the cry rang out: `Here's the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!' "Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. 8 The foolish ones said to the wise, `Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.' " `No,' they replied, `there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.' "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut. "Later the others also came. `Sir! Sir!' they said. `Open the door for us!' "But he replied, `I tell you the truth, I don't know you.' MATTHEW 25:1-12
In that last quote in Matthew, Jesus is warning us to get our spiritual houses in order because when the time of the end comes; the implication is obvious, If we are not in the very midst of fervid service to the Lord [remember what He said to the Laodiceans, if we are lukewarm He spit us out]*, we have no part in His coming back, no part in the Marriage supper of the Lamb.
So what do we do?
We can follow the instructions given to the church at Laodicea:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, `I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. REVELATION 3:14-18 A great start is true worship; acknowledging God is who he says he is. A sacrifice of praise is also expected as acceptable service-
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. HEBREWS 13:15-Trusting In Him and praying for everything is also the way to God heart, and He will meet you halfway. Abandonment of our pride and dignity to His service is true fervency. And one more thing: Can two walk together, except they be agreed? AMOS 3:3 It good to be in God good graces [to have asked for forgiveness for all of our daily slips off the path] Atonement, can also be said At-one-ment. To be at one with God, to be agreed in my walk with Him.
Lord, Help me to regain my first Love, the zeal with which I served you before the world and it distractions came between us. Search me and show mw my wicked ways so I can once again be right, be one with You. I ask that you remind me to pray and worship at every opportunity to desire you above all things and to seek you in all my life with all my heart, in all my troubles and triumphs, to hunger and thirst for righteousness. I ask that You come to me as I stumble towards You.
