Northern Light!

Take a look at the picture in my photo gallery. IT is a GREAT white day outside our door this AM. About six inches of slippery white stuff made our dogs think they died and went to heaven. They played as if they were trying to put a paw print in every inch of the yard. For you folks who reside below the Mason-Dixon line, I think this is God's way of compensating me for not being able to go to Shoney's or find good grits. Blessings! TJ

Wasting Gifts..?
DATE: 11/06/2008 18:20:49 / MOOD: Sad
Hey Folks..
With the dust of a historic election settling, I write about how we in the church tend to get distracted during times like these. I fear that we, and it seems especially those in the clergy, get so territorial about our ideas about the paths the church should take in times of change and turnoil. So it seems during this election. For I believe the foremost issues were not about race or the equality of women, but should be about society's treatment of the poor and the unborn, St. Paul wrote about our distractions in his letter to the church in Corinth. As with every word of scripture, his message to us who yet walk on earth in the Spirit, give warning to the church's true purpose to the world around us. Because of the length of my tirade, please see my thoughts about Paul's letter on:

Blessed are the peacemakers, for I pray that my words bring us together to witness of God's love.

Hi All;
I just finished a new story, "Behold the Sparrow"... dedicated to a great man that I've been priviliged to know who was a POW airman during WWII. This story is made as I consider the gift that Bob and others made to keep this country free.

Reformation Struggles?
DATE: 09/30/2008 19:39:55 / MOOD: Hopeful
AT THIS writing we find our nation wrapped in a matter of contention. It seems that unwise lending policies at work in our land have rendered the financial powers to the point that they have asked the taxpayers of the nation to come to their aid. In observance, it seems that the temper and tempers of the political realm in this land are being put to the test, for the media reports deep division on what had been termed as a financial bailout. Alas, we in the church have been down this contentious route before. Deep divisions cut the church body asunder in the late 1400 A.D. as Bohemian, John Hus met his death by fire. His questioning spirit was furthered after the turn of the century by Martin Luther, who sparked the Reformation firelight when his classroom study debate challenged the established church. Soon other reformers including such names as: Melancthon, Zwingli, Calvin, and Wesley were taking the church to task for perceived errors in the Christian way. The miraculous part of this turmoil is that the reformed church triumphant came through the trial hanging on to the spiritual inheritance given to us by Jesus Christ. We survived, for Jesus prayed that we may be one. Now we in the church should do likewise. For that reason, we may believe that this crisis has solution. We may pray that God would work in this world for the good of this grand experiment in free society. And, whether we have a financial stake, as many do, or whether we are opting to represent the poor who have very little voice in the public square, we are called as a people to pray for both calm and prosperity. Let us raise our voices to the throne of Our Creator, so that the Almighty may consider our government representatives, our corporate leaders, and we ourselves as decisions are made for those of the church and state. May the peace of God rule all in all.
