We Believe
DATE: 04/05/2008 07:39:45 / MOOD: Excited

Take a few more seconds to see where we build our faith, and on what. The Scriptures

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The New Covenant, as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible rule of faith and guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. (II Tim 3:16, I Thes 2:13, II Peter 1:21)               The Godhead

Our God is one, but manifested in three persons - The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit, being coequal (Phil 2:6). God the Father is greater than all; the sender of the Word (Logos) and the Begotten (John 14:28, John 16:28, John 1:14). The Son is the Word flesh-covered, the One Begotten, and has existed with the Father from the beginning. (John 1:1, John 1:18, John 1:14). The Holy Spirit proceeds forth from both the Father and the Son and is eternal. (John 15:26)       Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, was buried, was resurrected, ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for His redeemed and is true God and true man. (John 1:1-2, I Tim 3:16, Phil 2:9-11, Matt 1:23, Luke 1:31,35, II Cor 5:21, Matt 28:6, Acts 1:9-11, Heb 7:25, Heb 1:3)         Man, His Fall and Redemption

Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but, through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world. "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God." As it is written, "There is none righteous, no, not one." Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God. (Rom 5:14, Rom 3:10, Rom 3:24, I John 3:8) Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from the works and the law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God. (Eph 2:8)               Eternal Life and the New Birth

Man's first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that works repentance. The New Birth is necessary to all men, and when experienced, produces eternal life. (II Cor 7:10, I John 5:12, John 3:3-5)       How can you be a Christian?

Pray to Jesus. Talk to Him like a real person who's right there with you. HE IS. Tell Him you believe Him - that He is the Son of God; that He died for your sins; that He still lives. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins - HE WILL. A clean slate. Your life will be new. Move forward with Jesus every single minute of every single day and NEVER LOOK BACK! If you want to pray with someone about this, do it.Call us at (979) 229-2291 or sjcc@netleaps.net         Water Baptism

Baptism in water by immersion, is a direct commandment of our Lord, and is for believers only. The ordinance is a symbol of the Christian's identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection (Matt 28:19, Rom 6:4, Col 2:12, Acts 8:36-39). The following recommendations regarding the water baptismal formula is adopted: to wit: "On the confession of your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by His authority, I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Amen."           Baptism in the Holy Ghost

The Baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to all believers in this dispensation and is received subsequent to the New Birth. This experience is accompanied by the initial evidence of speaking in other tongues as the Holy Spirit Himself gives utterance. (Matt 3:11, John 14:16-17, Acts 1:9, Act 2:38-39, Acts 19:1-7, Acts 2:4)             Sanctification

The Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord. We believe in the Doctrine of Sanctification as a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation at Christ's return. (Heb 12:14, I Thess 5:23, II Peter 3:18, II Cor 3:18, Phil 3:12-14, I Cor 1:30)              Divine Healing

Healing is for the physical ills of the human body and is wrought by the power of God through faith in the name of Jesus Christ and the prayer of faith, and by the laying on of hands. It is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every member of the Church today. (Mark 16:18, James 5:14-15, I Peter 2:24, Matt 8:1-17, Isa 53:4-5) Resurrection of the Just and the Return of Our Lord The angels said to Jesus' disciple, "This same Jesus shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven." His coming is imminent. When He comes, "...the dead in Christ shall rise first; then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air..." (Acts 1:11, I Thess 4:16-17). Following the Tribulation, He shall return to earth as King of kings and Lord of lords, and together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests, He shall reign a thousand years. (Rev 20:6)     Hell and Eternal Retribution

The one who physically dies in sin without accepting Jesus Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and therefore has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. The Lake of Fire is literal. The terms "eternal" and "everlasting" used in describing the duration of the punishment of the damned in the Lake of Fire carry the same thought and meaning of endless existence as used in denoting the duration of joy and ecstasy of saints in the presence of God. (Heb 9:27, Rev 19:20)

Encouragement
DATE: 04/04/2008 00:18:01 / MOOD: Encouraging

It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground it just may be a smoke signal that summons the grace of God. For all the negative things we have to say to ourselves, God has a positive answer for it:

YOU SAY GOD SAYS BIBLE VERSES You say: "It's impossible" God says: All things are possible (Luke 18:27) You say: "I'm too tired" God says: I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28-30) You say: "Nobody really loves me" God says: I love you (John 3:16 & John 3:34 ) You say: "I can't go on" God says: My grace is sufficient (II Corinthians 12:9 & Psalm 91:15) You say: "I can't figure things out" God says: I will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6) You say: "I can't do it" God says: You can do all things (Philippians 4:13) You say: "I'm not able" God says: I am able (II Corinthians 9:8) You say: "It's not worth it" God says: It will be worth it (Roman 8:28 ) You say: "I can't forgive myself" God says: I Forgive you (I John 1:9 & Romans 8:1) You say: "I can't manage" God says: I will supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19) You say: "I'm afraid" God says: I have not given you a spirit of fear (II Timothy 1:7) You say: "I'm always worried and frustrated" God says: Cast all your cares on ME (I Peter 5:7) You say: "I don't have enough faith" God says: I've given everyone a measure of faith (Romans 12:3) You say: "I'm not smart enough" God says: I give you wisdom (I Corinthians 1:30) You say: "I feel all alone"

God says: I will never leave you or forsake you

When You Thought I Wasn't Looking
DATE: 04/04/2008 00:09:56 / MOOD: Reflective

Written by a former child When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life. When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you didn't feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt , but it's all right to cry. When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be. When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up. When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked at you and wanted to say, 'Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.'
