 As a deer......
Psalm 42:1-2 As a deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God! I thirst for God, for the living God......
This has been one of the driest summers I remember. Adding to our dry summer long stretches of higher than normal temperatures; we begin to see the wildlife leaving the shelter of the hills looking for food and water.
As I was doing a little cleaning I just happened to look out my window and saw a deer. She was standing in the shallow creek behind my home munching on the tender plants growing along the bank. I stopped what I was doing to watch for a while. She seemed so content with the provisions God had made for her. I could not help but feel ashamed. So many times I fail to stop and thank God for all the things he has provided for me. By the standards of this world, I am by no means a rich woman, but I have everything I need and much more. In fact, the only thing I could use more of is DESIRE... a deep desire to seek after the things of God. Just like the deer who found contentment after her search for water and food, surely, true joy and contentment can only be found in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is in his presence that I am rich beyond measure!
