Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going. Put your trust in the light while you have it, so that you may become sons of light." When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them. John 12:35-36
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." John 14:1-4
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. '
For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:12-13 God calls us to be His people, and he wants us to rely totally on Him; but it goes way beyond that. He wants us to give all of our problems to Him and even trust that when someone hurts us that we can forgive and it be ok, not just for us but for the relationship we have with the one we forgive. We needn fear the consequences of forgiving, even if our friend does let us down again, and yes, we cannot rely on people not even the love of our life, But We can rely on God, He is constant, he never changes or alters His position in any way. He wants us to live in harmony, but humans; being who we are, always fail and when we perceive we have been failed, our feelings get hurt, we are angry, we need to forgive. The thing is we fail too so who are we to hold a grudge? Jesus said that if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins Right after He said we are to ask God to us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. He says And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. ' I always wondered why he would instruct us to say Lead us not into temptation, but I believe it the placement here that important. Of course God doesn lead us into temptation, we are asking that He will help us to go to Him to avoid the temptation of staying angry with those who disappoint us. Because He can make a way to resolve our differences, the closer we are to Him the easier our relationships with others will be, I can realty explain this, but as we become more like Him-mature- the easier it is be calm and full of grace and to forgive.
We all live in a state of sin because the world around us is run by satan. But it will not always be that way, and we don have to live as though we have no hope. God loves each of us equally, He has a mansion in His heaven just for us.
Lord, help me to see that I not the only one in this foul soup run by satan, help me to keep my eye on Heaven; show me your love for others so I can bathe in the light of that forgiveness You give me and give it to all others as well.In Jesus Name, Amen.
