Seeing God

Psalms 63:1 says, God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I want to be like the Psalmist and earnestly seek God and thirst for Him. This is what C.S. Lewis did in in a Toolshed. Lewis was in his toolshed. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he was probably looking for tools. I know, my brains astound you! He's apparently looking for tools while seeking God at the same time. He gives an amazing illustration about what it's like to look more intently into the things of God by observing sunlight coming through a hole in the roof of the toolshed. A thousand people could have gone into that shed and come out with a tool and nothing more, but not Lewis, at least not this time.

So what about me? What about when I go into the kitchen looking for a pan to cook supper? Could I leave the kitchen with a cooked meal and a beautiful truth I have learned about my Lord? If Lewis could, I can. Not because I'm as godly as Lewis (that'll never happen), but because I have the same Holy Spirit who reveals God's truth to me.

The kingdom of heaven is like a kitchen pan. When a woman of the Lord's house finds it, she annoints it with oil and prepares a table for God's children... and those who partake of the feast are blessed with strength and faith.
