DAYS OF THUNDER
DAYS OF THUNDER Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7
Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. ISAIAH 55:6
Isaiah spoke of our time when he wrote:
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks,
who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent. ISAIAH 5:20-23
(1) Holy Spirit jolted the American church more than four decades ago and brought waves of renewal. Today we celebrate those days of visitation Since the days of the 1906 Azusa Street Revival (which, coincidentally, also erupted in Southern California), seekers in this country had been receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues in increasing measure. But for decades this experience was generally restricted to Pentecostal groups who remained outside mainline denominations. SPAN>
These are the days of Thunder, the waning days of the Prince of the Power of the air. Even non-religious folks, those who know nothing about God or the Bible are saying that we as a planet are about to enter a new phase, they call it the end, we call it the beginning. Satan has, like a snake someone has stepped on; begun to writhe and lash out at all of God children, BUT God has stepped up his availability, He has been answering even the smallest prayers in people lives. People are changing, and receiving more of God power.
There are more who operate in the gifts of the Spirit in this age than ever before, more Apostles [church planters], Prophets [keepers of truth], preachers [those who exhort people and extol God virtues], teachers [those who bring up the young in the way they should go, and Evangelists [those who bring the Good news to those who are perishing] than ever before.
People lives are changing and improving at rapid rates, Neighbors of hose who are Christians are seeing God blessings settle down on His people and saying, want that! Yes, Christians are having a lot of troubles but they are experiencing more miraculous answers to prayer. I believe God is building our faith for the coming hard times when there will be a famine of God Word.
"The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine through the land--not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.
Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find it. "In that day "the lovely young women and strong young men will faint because of thirst. AMOS 8:11-13
So These days of Thunder are here now and I will take all my requests to God. I will ask Him to help me pay my debts, to raise up those who have asked me to pray for them and to request that He bless and hold them safe.
In fact what I pray for people in addition to the special personal requests is forThe Lord to- rebuke the devourer for their sakes- give them a hunger and thirst after righteousness- provide- protect- keep safe- always count them worthy of their calling- bless them to overflowing so they can bless others- hide them under God hand to protect them from the eyes of the enemy- restore the years the Locust has eaten
- heal them physically, emotionally, Spiritually and Financially.
So when someone says your prayer isn good enough or your requests are frivolous tell then we are to bring everything before Him, , by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
He likes us to make the sacrifice of spending our time praying for others and I try to remember this, Prayer of St Francis of Assisi:
Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen.
Lord, Help remind me that I need to bring all of my prayers, all my hopes, dreams and sorrows to you, For you alone are my strength and my light and you alone direct my paths in these days of Thunder.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
