PR 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Be careful of your words, he said , Make them sweet, because you might have to eat them.

My favorite Pastor preached on this years ago. It must have made an impression because of all the things I have forgotten, I remembered his words.

How many times have I said something and wished I could take the words back. Hurtful things especially, sometimes just the tone of my voice was more harsh than I intended, or the choice of wording was a bit off or even way off. But our words, the sound keeps going. If you don believe it here something: Scientists say the universe is continually expanding at the speed of sound.

Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light, and there was light.

There is the proof, God said let there be light and His words are still being obeyed.

What has this got to do with the power of the tongue? Well, what we speak into our lives is what is going to be manifest. If we speak much of how sick we are, we will be fighting our own bodies that we programmed to be ill in order to get well. The computer programmers call it garbage in, garbage out. We are what we program ourselves to be. And our children tend to live up or down to our prophesies over them or *in their hearing*

You will never amount to a thing if you do not quit being so lazy. The child hears you will never amount to a thing, and you are Lazy.

If you do not start going out and making friends, you will always be on the outside looking in. The child only hears, you will never be part of anything, you will never belong anywhere.

But we put these things in our own lives as well. I have a manual dexterity problem and when I get frustrated with trying to do simple things [yeah simple for you maybe!] like maneuvering a paperclip or other small object ; threading a needle or even buttoning my blouse! When these small, necessary tasks elude my abilities anymore I tend to call myself names, like Stupid fingers! Or You worthless $%^@#@.

I have also been really sick for a very long time and I often succumbed to the temptation of talking about how sick I was. This made it hard to get well, after nearly a year, now, of working on getting myself healthy, reversing diabetes and get the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue under control, I am making a lot of progress.

Psalms 107:2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say this--those he redeemed from the hand of the foe.

We sing that song which is strictly scriptural: Let the redeemed of the Lord say so: Let the sick say,  I am well. Let the weak say, I am strong.

So, I have changed my internal dialog too, I say, I am healthy, Wealthy and Beautiful. Hey why not! You have your affirmations, I have mine.

Here are some more verses to ponder: Proverbs 25:11 A word aptly spoken, is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

Proverbs 12:18 Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Proverbs 15:4 The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

Proverbs 13:3 He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.

And we cannot forget: Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech (1 Peter 3:10).

Some of these are for our words to others and some for how our words affect ourselves.

But wait, the way we treat others does affect us. We are all in this together and there is nothing worse than seeing the effects our words have to mess up other people.

Lord, Help me to keep my Words only what You are speaking to my heart, Help me to be sweet to others and myself. Let the words from You shout to others hearts and those not from You, fall dead to the floor. And help me to be sweet on the inside; because I know no matter how bumped or jostled a cup full of sweetness will never spill any bitterness over its side. I cannot do this on my own Lord, I am so weak, but in You I am strong, and healed and rich! In Jesus Name, Amen
