Title: Semi Frozen

Blog Entry: First, I want to thank everyone who responded to my previous blog where I asked the question about being re-baptized as an adult after being baptized as a child. I took note of everyone's council. I also have been praying and seeking the Lord on this. The final clincher was at the end of a talk given by Richard Ellis a few days ago where he explained it kind of like this:[br] You are given a measure of faith by God[br] If you place that faith in Jesus as your Lord, redeemer and saviour rather than using that faith on yourself...that is repentance.[br] Then the gift of forgiveness is applied.[br] Water baptizim is the 'hand shake' that closes the deal.[br] So this brings up another question. Does anyone think our Lord does not have a great sense of humor? I know He does![br] The decision was made Friday morning that my brother in Christ, Steve, who is also my co-worker at our secular job, would baptize me the next day...Saturday...which is today! The weather channel said we would have temps in the low 70's...so far so good. Only thing is, they were wrong![br] Steve and his kids came over and we munched out on some homemade pizza and banana pudding and kept waiting on the thermometer on the back porch to to see if it would even reach 60. I don't think it ever did. We looked at each other as if to say. "This is insane!"...but we loaded put his kids, my son climbed in the truck with me...and off to Alvarado Lake we went.[br] We stood on the bank of the lake facing a good 20 MPH breeze with our minds racing. I felt like Mikey on the old Life ceral commercial. 'I'm not gonna try it, YOU try it!' We prayed for warm water. We prayed for miracle insulation. Then we prayed to God we would survive :) Then in we went.[br] Our kids laughed up a storm at us as we hollered and shivered and slowly worked our way into deeper water. We prayed and the next thing I knew I was soaked! I thanked God as I came up then suddenly I rememered I had left the towels in the truck. So I started ashore in what I thought would be a half trot only to have my flip-flop act as a sea achor and face first I hit the water again![br] I'm not really sure what kind of a witness this whole ceremony was to our kids, because they were rolling around laughing so hard they couldn't tell us if they wanted to Needless to say, we made it out alive and eventually warmed up in front of the fireplace back at home. Is God awesome or what?!?[br] Thank you Father, for making this day so memorable, not only for me, but for all the kids too, Thank you for blessing me with your son Steve. It's not too many people that would venture into the cold waters to obey your command. Thank you for the towels in the truck and for the fire in the fireplace, but mostly for the love you have shown me. Amen.[br] Kevin[br] p.s. Those folks in the actual frozen north that cut a hole in the ice then jump in...well...help them Lord. They are insane![br]
